My Holiday is Christmas

I love the sound of Christmas music.

I like to hear it in the places many people have already tired of it: grocery stores, TV commercials, radio stations normally dedicated to something else. If I happen to find myself in a shopping mall this time of year, the combination of holiday hits on the loudspeakers and the glittering decorations lining the walkways almost leaves me feeling that I must be in one of those quintessential Christmas films. You know the type: a bundle of kids scrambling around a corner in the middle of a Christmas-saving adventure. Or the coming together of an unlikely couple - one part of which has just had his or her heart reopened to love after an inordinate amount of time away.

But I’m ok with that. I’m not ashamed to say that I buy into the stereotypical holiday atmosphere in a lot of ways. Still, it always seems to be the music that puts me in that congenial mood first.

So I change out all of the albums on my smartphone for Christmas music as soon as Thanksgiving is over. And I listen only to the treasured sounds of the holiday season until the season is no more.

To kick off this month of sharing, I’m including here a couple of playlists with many of my favorite Christmas songs. I hope you’ll enjoy them as much as I do.

Please keep coming back each day this month to read, see, and hear more from our great lineup of contributors. Check out the calendar if you want to know ahead of time who will be dropping by and when.

And join us over on Facebook to share a little about your own Christmas with us. We’d love to hear from you.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
